The location of the property is wonderful -- it is close to Nob Hill and near public transportation. We walked, drove our car, and took the bus during our stay -- it was all quite easy (we were visiting over Memorial Day weekend and traffic was lighter than usual). The hotel is fun -- lots of florals and 1960's op art on the wall -- with a nice breakfast area. It's more than a continental breakfast as there are breads and cereals, fruit, yogurt, pastries, and hard cooked eggs when we visited. The staff was friendly. The room had a separate dressing area and a working fireplace. The bed was too soft for me, but I require a very firm bed. My husband and I were very pleased with the room, location, and service.

The continental breakfast was good and there was variety in the pastries from day to day . The room was large, very clean and well equipped. I also particularly enjoyed the separate distinct sitting areas - in front of the fire, the library and a small outside terrace (which I didn't use) which was a nice added bonus for a small hotel. The hotel is in a convenient central position of the city such that it was possible to get around relatively safely on foot (within reason but noting like any other major city that you need always to be careful and aware of nearby areas to avoid) as well as uber/taxis and public transport. The reception staff were patient and helpful with questions and advice.

I liked everything! The hotel is centrally located. We were lucky that the very polite staff upgraded our room, and when I entered the room, I instantly fell in love with it. It was spacious, with a fireplace, beautiful street view, elegant decor, pop-art paintings, kitchenette, and dressing room. The breakfast was satisfying, and the dining area was amazing, tastefully decorated to match both old and new styles. The hotel offers valet service for parking your car, which is quite expensive, and it's your choice to accept it or not. If you search on your own, you can find many other parking options that are much cheaper nearby. This hotel is a reason to return to San Francisco.

We loved this place! Everything there was great! Starting with the staff, who is super friendly and helpful with everything you might want; the decoration of the place is unique, the rooms are super comfortable (clean, spacious for San Francisco) with a fire place and a small kitchen area; the 'nibbles & wine' event at 5pm (for free, no sign-up needed), the breakfast (only sweet, though, which wasn't a problem for us, but good to know if you're not into sweet breakfast), the common area downstairs with extra couches, reading areas, a fire place, a small courtyard. Location is great, too, it's only a few blocks to Chinatown and to the trams.

It is a charming quirky place in a great location for a visit to SF. Breakfast was simple but good with tea coffee toast cereal yoghurt and croissants. The staff were helpful. The free wine and nibbles in the evening in the lovely lounge was a real treat. What makes it quirky is the 60’s artwork and old fashioned decor. It is an old place and you have to accept those limitations. Our room was big with a high old fashioned bed. There was an open fire place which we turned on by mistake as it is gas lit. The bathroom was modern and very clean. Windows and blinds all a bit wonky and old. But fine. We had a lovely stay here
